Tim Doherty, Owner & Chairman

Tim founded the staffing firm that would grow to include HR outsourcing nearly 30 years ago. Doherty Employer Services was formed in 1993 and is one of the first Minnesota-based HROs. Tim holds a BS degree in Business from the University of Minnesota. He served on the American Staffing Association (ASA) Board of Directors from 1990 – 2002 and served as its national President from 1996 - 1997. He is also a past President of Employer Services Assurance Corporation (ESAC) and a board member of that organization. Tim is past national President of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO). Inc magazine has twice recognized Doherty Employment Group as one of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the nation. Along with Valerie, Tim was awarded the 2008 University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. His leisure time includes family activities, tennis and golf.
